Overview

Explore Our 4 Environmental Action Strategies
More than 3 million tons of plastic are thrown out by Canadians. Only 9% is recycled, but the rest ends up in landfills, waste incineration facilities or in nature. Plastic waste is a big burden for our economy and threatens to harm our environment including wildlife, lakes, rivers, and oceans. (3)
Now is the time to act! We need to change the way we design, use, and dispose of plastic waste. Together we can keep plastic in the economy and out of the environment. (4)

Responsible consumption and sustainability of actions mean being mindful of how our everyday activities can impact the environment. It means making choices that do not mistreat the planet and ensuring that resources are available for future generations.
This could mean reducing the amount of waste we produce, using reusable items instead of disposable ones, or even choosing to buy products that are made with renewable resources or are eco-friendly. It also means being conscious of how our purchasing decisions can influence the environment and making sure that our actions don’t have a negative impact.
By being conscious of our actions, we can help that our planet is healthy and sustainable for generations to come.

Protecting water sources is important because it helps keep our water clean and safe to drink. It means making sure that no harmful things like chemicals or dirt get into our rivers, lakes, and oceans. This can be done by picking up trash, not pouring chemicals down the drain, and not littering near water sources. Protecting our water sources also helps protect the animals and plants that live in and around the water, like fish and turtles.

Innovation and Environmental Development are two important ways we can help protect and improve the world around us. Innovation is when we come up with new ideas or ways of doing things to make our lives better. Environmental Development is when we make changes to our environment, like protecting forests and rivers, or reducing pollution, to make sure nature is healthy and can support us. Together, innovation and environmental development can help us find better ways to live sustainably and look after our planet.
